‘Baby P’ doctor fined and faces conditions

The High Court has confirmed the measures, which were decided by the Medical Council on December 17 after its fitness-to-practise inquiry committee found Sabah Al-Zayyat guilty of professional misconduct.

The amount of the fine has not been revealed but legislation allows for up to €5,000 to be levied against the doctor. Dr Al-Zayyat’s current whereabouts are not known and, under the conditions attached to her registration as a doctor in Ireland, she must inform the Medical Council within seven days of her return to the country. She must also undertake a course in professional ethics within one year if she does return.
