Music festival hits all the right notes for Cork couple

Music is certainly the food of love for one couple — they attended the Cork School of Music together as children and enjoyed a teenage romance before carving out successful careers in one of Europe’s most respected string quartets.

As the 20th anniversary of the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras (IAYO) approaches — the organisation represents more than 100 youth orchestras and 8,000 musicians around Ireland —the Cork couple have been selected as ambassadors for the event.

Michelle Fleming, 36, from Bishopstown, and 35-year-old Eoin Schmidt-Martin from The Lough, Cork City, are not just married to their music — they’re married to each other.
