Woman dies after stabbing incident at her home

The woman, who was in her 60s, sustained stab wounds after she was attacked in the kitchen of her home at Clarinda Park East in Dún Laoghaire yesterday at around 5pm.

The woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead. An autopsy will now take place.

A neighbour was also injured in the attack after he hears screams coming from the house and went to help. His injuries are believed to be minor.

A man in his 30s, who was known to the victim, was arrested at the scene. He is being questioned at Dún Laoghaire Garda Station and can be detained for up to 24 hours.

It is understood the victim was a mother to three adult children.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
