Takeaways‘can curb antisocial behaviour’

Authorities in Killarney, Co Kerry, have been trying to restrict late-night opening of takeaway food outlets because of trouble caused by people remaining on the streets after pubs and nightclubs have closed. The former town council also imposed a ban on the opening of new chippers.

However, the OKR group, which operates 26 Burger King outlets countrywide, has applied to Kerry County Council for planning permission to extend its opening hours in Killarney from 1am to 3.30am on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and from 1am to 2am on Mondays.
