Drug addict jailed after robbing man with mental age of a 12-year-old

A drug addict who targeted and robbed a man with the mental age of a 12-year-old has been jailed for four years.

After the robbery, the 22-year-old victim, Darragh Losty, told his mother that he was in danger of “forgetting to tie his shoe laces” because he was too afraid to attend a remedial clinic since the mugging.

Thomas Greene McDonagh, aged 22, a native of Mullingar, Co Westmeath, who was of no fixed abode in Rathmines, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbing Mr Losty at O’Connell St on January 13, 2014.
