Ladies Gaelic Football Association president Pat Quill has hailed Cork star Valerie Mulcahy’s decision to go public about her sexuality.

The nine-time All-Ireland senior medallist will appear in a documentary airing on RTÉ TV next Monday evening, talking about her experience of being gay in modern Ireland.

Quill reflected: “It’s a positive thing that people can come out and talk about it and it’s not being hidden any longer.
