A mother-of-two who was desperate to get some Christmas presents for her family resorted to shoplifting.

The woman was yesterday given a four-month suspended jail sentence.

Amanda Sheehan, 34, with an address at Dysard, Dripsey, Co Cork, was apprehended stealing a €116 bottle of Gucci perfume at Debenham’s on St Patrick’s Street, Cork, on November 8.
