The heritage body said it secured the kind permission of Lord and Lady Waterford to hold the festive walk on Sunday next, December 28, in a part of the 2,500-acre Portlaw and Curraghmore estate.

The walk is scheduled to commence at1.30pm. The cost of this walk will be €5 per adult.

Irish Examiner columnist Damien Enright recently described the 12km walk as one of the top five treks in Ireland.

The charming loop walk on the estate’s paths and minor roads is designated by walker groups as easy going.

Accompanying the walkers on the day will be two local historians, as well as Curraghmore’s official guide to help highlight a host of interesting facts along the way.

Clonagam church will also be open on the day for walkers to appreciate.

The walk starts and finishes at the Portlaw Heritage Centre where tea and coffee will be provided afterwards.

Potential walkers are advised to check the Portlaw heritage centre page on Facebook for updates.
