Tributes have been paid to a champion of the arts who is bringing the curtain down on a remarkable 30 years as a director on the board of Cork Opera House.

Chairman of the theatre’s board, Damian Wallace led the tributes to Jim Corr for his staunch support of the venue over the last three decades and, in particular, helping to steer it successfully through its recent financial crisis.

Mr Corr, a former Fine Gael city councillor, was one of Ireland’s longest serving local politicians when he retired from politics last year.
