Eight projects in Cork tipped for school build list

Last night Junior Minister and east Cork TD Sean Sherlock confirmed that Gaelscoil de hÍde in Fermoy is on the list.

“I can confirm that the diggers will be on site in 2015,” said Mr Sherlock. “Minister for Education Jan O’Sullivan, who has engaged on this issue since she took office, will confirm its place on the programme later today. I look forward to welcoming Minister O’Sullivan down in the New Year to turn the sod on this greenfield site that will ensure sustainable Gaelscoilleanna education for Fermoy for the future.”

He also confirmed two school projects for Carrigtwohill, a gaelscoil in Midleton and an Educate Together School in Midleton would progress in 2015.

“This Government has prioritised replacing the prefabs of the Fianna Fáil years with bricks and mortar,” said Mr Sherlock.

“These projects not only benefit the school communities but also provide construction work in every part of the process, creating employment.”

Sources indicated that a further two new building projects will be announced for Carrigaline and one for Mallow.
