Man told his brother: ‘I shot the oul’ lad’

A 33-year-old man armed with a shotgun told his brother he shot their father, an inquest heard yesterday.

The circumstances of the death of 71-year-old farmer Thomas Biggins at his Co Mayo farm were revealed to West Galway Coroner Ciaran MacLoughlin and a jury in Galway.

Mr Biggins’ son Noel told the inquest that on May 6, 2012 he had walked the 1km distance from his home in Headford, Co Galway, to his parents’ house at Wallpark, Glencorrib.
