Businesses in Dublin are hoping today’s water charges protests will not put a major dent in the profits they were hoping to make in the lucrative pre-Christmas period.

Major disruption is expected for the third time in as many months, with up to 60,000 expected to march. Retailers face losing millions in lost business while other commercial enterprises are also expected to suffer.

“It is a big consideration for us,” said a spokesman for Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
