Parking plans for busy Cork towns to aid businesses
The concessions have been decided on by members of the eight municipal authorities which took over the running of former town councils as they wanted to ensure struggling businesses got help during their busiest time of the year.
has the most complicated concessions. One hour’s free parking has commenced and will last until Friday, January 2.
This will apply to all on-street areas and all car parks in the town. If shoppers wish to stay longer, they can paying parking charges which are as low as 20 cent for 15 minutes. They will have to ensure that their ticket is displayed from when the one-hour free parking finishes.
However, a council spokesman said that, in order to keep the turnover of car parking on the main street, parking remains limited to one hour there.
“The current arrangements of free parking before 10am and after 5pm on Monday to Saturday and free parking all day Sunday remain unchanged,” the spokesman added.
is providing free off-street parking in Harte’s car park from 9am-2pm daily, up to and including Christmas Eve,
A three-hour limit will apply to Harte’s car park and a two-hour on street parking limit will remain in force.
, on the outskirts of Cork City, will have parking charges suspended on Saturday, December 13, and Saturday, December 20. There will also be free parking on all weekdays up to New Years’ Eve inclusive from 10am to 12pm. Other parking restrictions remain.
will introduce free parking in its off-street car parks from today to Friday, January 2.
Shoppers can also avail of free all-day on-street parking on Saturday, December 13 and Saturday, December 20.
