Date set for case against O’Reilly appeal

The State’s application to dismiss wife killer Joe O’Reilly’s murder appeal will be heard by the Court of Appeal on March 3.

Date set for  case against O’Reilly appeal

In July 2007, O’Reilly was convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife at their home in the Naul, Co Dublin.

Last month marked the 10-year anniversary of the discovery of Rachel O’Reilly’s badly beaten body. The 30-year-old was found in the bedroom of her home on October 4, 2004.

O’Reilly, aged 41, has lodged an appeal under section 2 of the Criminal Procedure Act 1993 to have his conviction declared a miscarriage of justice. The State has lodged a motion to strike out O’Reilly’s appeal.
