Date set for case against O’Reilly appeal
In July 2007, O’Reilly was convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife at their home in the Naul, Co Dublin.
Last month marked the 10-year anniversary of the discovery of Rachel O’Reilly’s badly beaten body. The 30-year-old was found in the bedroom of her home on October 4, 2004.
O’Reilly, aged 41, has lodged an appeal under section 2 of the Criminal Procedure Act 1993 to have his conviction declared a miscarriage of justice. The State has lodged a motion to strike out O’Reilly’s appeal.
