Seizure of weapons and bomb equipment a "major setback" for Dissident Republicans, say gardaí

Two men were arrested and weapons including an AK-47 rifle were found following a swoop against dissident republicans in Dublin.

Bomb-making equipment was also located during the planned searches on premises in the capital over the weekend, leading to a controlled explosion being carried out.

Gardaí said officials from the Special Detective Unit alongside members of the Emergency Response Unit carried out a number of strategic searches against dissident republicans in Dublin on Saturday and yesterday.
