Popular Cork suburbs see property sales soar
A total of 2,860 properties have been sold in Cork between January and September 2014 — a 42% increase on the same period in 2010 — according to a report by ValueMyProperty.ie.
The report found that Douglas, Mallow, Carrigaline, Midleton, and Ballincollig have had the highest volume of sales so far this year, followed closely by Youghal and Bandon. The report also reviewed the availability of three bedroom semi-detached houses in the most sought-after areas in Cork, which are a popular choice for families looking to upsize.
“We are seeing a consistent and steady growth in the number of property transactions in Co Cork over the last four years,” said Tim Kelly, director, ValueMyProperty.ie.
“The three-bed semi-detached house is a very popular choice for families across the country. The problem is that there aren’t enough properties available to meet the demand, which is driving up prices.
“Duplex apartments and high-density homes will be the future of housing, meaning that young families may have to give up the dream of buying this traditional type of home.”
