Massive volunteer search helps recover body of missing man

A huge volunteer search effort helped in the recovery yesterday of the body of a man who had been missing from his home in Cork for over a week.

A member of the public, who was among more than 250 volunteers who joined the search for missing Tom Keane in the Lough Mahon estuary area over the weekend, spotted a body floating in the water close to a pedestrian bridge about two hours before high tide yesterday morning.

Members of the Crosshaven Coast Guard and the Cork City Missing Persons group assisted in the recovery of the body a short time later.
