A spokesperson for the festival said: âIt is appropriate the festival starts on a night when Munster are playing a big game at Thomond Park.
âRichard loved rugby and Thomond Park and in the 1951/52 season was a member of the Garryowen team which won the Munster Senior Cup at Thomond Park.
âA photograph of the team with Richard stands in Myles Breenâs famous rugby pub in Shannon Street.
âAlso in that team was Gordon Wood, father of Keith Wood.â
