Gay Byrne: I’d consider assisted suicide

Gay Byrne has said he would consider assisted suicide if he was faced with a drawn-out and painful illness.

The former Late Late Show presenter said he thought it would be a rational choice for some people faced with a distressing terminal illness.

He is the second RTÉ presenter recently to support assisted suicide. Last year, Derek Mooney revealed that he wants to take his own life if his health fails in old age.
