100 Leaving Cert students have results upgraded after review

More than 100 students have received improved results in a Leaving Certificate subject they did not appeal after issues in the marking process were discovered during the rechecking of other candidates’ exams.

The awarding by the State Examinations Commission (SEC) of an upgrade to 116 students who had not appealed in the first place compares to just six upgraded in such circumstances last year and 52 in 2012.

The changes were made in six subjects — French, German, English, Irish, Design and Communication Graphics and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme.
