Filan home once valued at €10m nets €800k

The âsoldâ notice across the auctioneerâs sign has gone up on the stone wall outside the house â Castledale, at Carraroe on the edge of Sligo town.
The house, built in 2004, was sold for below the âŹ1m the receiver was originally seeking.
Auctioneer David Reynolds of Gunne Sligo said: âIt has gone for well over âŹ800,000 but a bit below the âŹ899,000 that was the last listed price.â
He added that he was not free to give details of the new owner who lived overseas.
âThe contracts have been signed and the sale should be closed within days. Anybody buying that house could be described as high profile. Itâs still a big price to pay for a house in Sligo,â he said.
Five acres of gardens are included in the sale.
At one stage while the former Westlife star still lived in the house, he turned down an overseas offer of âŹ10m. It was put up for sale following a creditorsâ meeting when it was revealed the singer had debts of âŹ23m.
Filan, who declared bankruptcy in the UK, lives with his wife Gillian and their three children in a ÂŁ2.2m house in Surrey.
In April 2013, two of his properties were auctioned. A derelict period house with 146 acres of farming land near Dromahair, Co Leitrim, fetched âŹ910,000 â about 10% below what Filan paid for it. Another 3.6 acres at Carraroe fetched âŹ50,000.
The singer exited bankruptcy last year.
