Confusion over child abuse arrest

The EU police agency and gardaí were yesterday in contact over confusion regarding the apparent arrest of a man in Ireland as part of an EU operation targeting "a network of child abuse photographers".

Europol issued a statement on Monday in which it said 10 people were arrested in five EU states — including one person in Ireland.

It said the agency supported an “international investigation into a network of professional photographers who specialised in producing and distributing child abuse material”.
