‘Crazy Crow’ gets Facebook page after causing chaos

A crow that has been landing on school children’s heads and waking people up by pecking on their windows, has been given his own Facebook page.

Christened the ‘Crazy Crow,’ the black bird has left some children frightened because of his overly friendly behaviour.

No one knows just why the solitary crow has taken to flying low around the village centre, including into the grounds of the village national school.

Anne Marry, principal of Tullyallen National School, in Louth, confirmed it had landed on the heads of two junior infants but they were unharmed. “I shooed it away and it flew off and onto the nearby flower bed. He was slow enough to go though,” she said.

It has also been accused of setting off house alarms by pecking at windows and of waking people up with its cawing.

Mum-of-four Sabrina Boyle said it landed on her 3-year-old son’s head two weeks ago “and it pecked him. We were walking to the Gaelic grounds and he flew over to us. We crossed the road and it came and landed on Tommy’s head”.

“Tommy has a lot of hair and he wasn’t hurt, but he wanted to hold my hand afterwards,” she said. The bird flew from Tommy to her eldest son Jason, 8, and then it flew ahead of the family.

Her other children Lewis, 6, and Lauren, 4, were also with her and as the family approached the gaelic grounds the bird landed and began to peck away at a child’s soother.

However on the pitch it was worse because “it went after Lauren and she was screaming”.

Sabrina told her children to put up the hoods on their jackets and the bird eventually flew away.
