Fianna Fáil have fired their first shots of the next general election campaign with promises to reduce the property tax for the vulnerable and not to enter into any coalition with Fine Gael.

Leader Micheál Martin said his TDs will propose amendments to reduce the burden on those who can not afford the tax and pensioners and those with mortgage arrears were in the party’s sights.

In an interview with the Irish Examiner, Mr Martin ruled out Fianna Fáil entering into power with Fine Gael, who he claimed had become more “right wing” in recent times.
