A prominent former Garda superintendent who relocated to the Seychelles where he worked to combat crime in the island nation’s version of the Criminal Assets Bureau has died of a suspected heart attack.

Liam Hogan, 63, from Bandon, Co Cork, died on Sunday morning on the island in the Indian Ocean where he had been based in recent years.

He took ill at his villa in Victoria and passed away a short time after being admitted to hospital. It is understood his relatives were at his bedside.
