Belgian TV films Wild Atlantic Way

Belgium’s biggest holiday programme, Vlaanderen Vakantieland (Flanders on Holiday), is being filmed along the Wild Atlantic Way, with the crew currently in West Cork

Presenters Tina Maerevoet and Bill Barberis are well-known actors and celebrities in Belgium, and their journey, by caravan, began at Croagh Patrick, Co Mayo, and ends in Kinsale.

Among the list of items that are planned to film are visits to Dursey Island, Ballylickey, and Baltimore Harbour, and a trip with Nic Slocum, of Whale Watch West Cork.

The 2,500km Wild Atlantic Way has been getting a deal of overseas attention and has already received lots of exposure on mainstream and social media.

Antoinette Reilly, Fáilte Ireland’s international publicity executive, said: “In our work to promote Ireland as a top class destination, this type of publicity gives us credibility far beyond the scope of advertising.’’
