A successful Cork-based businessman has been appointed to a senior role in a worldwide charitable organisation, with his main aim to get more people involved in its good work.

Pat O’Brien, who runs O’Brien Office Systems, has been appointed district governor of Lions International Ireland.

He has replaced Liam Lyons from Thurles as head of an organisation which boasts 111 clubs nationwide and 2,495 members.
