Walkers put best foot forward for cancer research

Football legend and television pundit Pat Spillane was on hand yesterday to see off hundreds of participants in the ninth annual Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk.

Walkers put best foot forward for cancer research

The three-day, 70km walk in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research will fund research programmes administered by Cork Cancer Research Centre.

The walk encompasses spectacular mountain views, peaks, wild moorlands, wooded paths and lakes along the Kerry Way trail.

The walk also features part of the Beara Way, and last evening it included a twilight boat trip across the Kenmare River to Templenoe.

Breakthrough Cancer Research fundraising manager Orla Dolan said the walk had so far raised more than €650,000.
