Most of us love it, with the festival ranked as one of the most watched RTÉ programmes of 2013, with three out of five Irish adults tuning in every August to watch the craic, the frocks, and the occasional slip.

A recent survey has found that almost a quarter of viewers in Ireland considered the proposal to the New Orleans Rose one of the most memorable Rose of Tralee moments in memory.
Conducted by Empathy Research, the findings also reveal that the Dublin Rose break-dancing and the re-enactment of her performance with Crystal Swing were the two second most unforgettable moments in the festival’s 55 years. As popular as ever, the Rose of Tralee ranked as the 15th most watched RTÉ programme in 2013, with the study revealing that 62% of adults living in Ireland tune in to see young women of Irish descent celebrating Irish culture each year in Tralee. The survey also found that viewers simply cannot get enough of the festival, with a staggering 45% requesting more behind-the-scenes footage of the show, which this year is once again fronted by quintessential Kerryman Daithí Ó Sé.
The research, which was commissioned by Maldron Hotels, comes in the wake of an announcement that the nationwide hotel brand is the broadcast sponsor of this year’s festival.
