A young man went on trial yesterday on a charge of murdering a middle-aged man in Cork at Christmas 2011.

The jury was told he stabbed the deceased inside and outside a pub during a fracas that came out of a history between two families.

Dean Crinnion, aged 20, of 1 Blackwater Grove, Togher, Cork, is charged with the murder of Gerard Delaney at Lower Friars Walk, Ballyphehane, Cork, on December 27, 2011, engaging in violent disorder, and producing a knife during a row.
