Priest guilty of sex assault in school sick bay

A jury of 10 men and two women reached a unanimous guilty verdict against a 70-year-old priest for a sex assault on a schoolboy in the sick bay of a boarding school in 1979.

The jury took two hours to reach their guilty verdict in the case against Tadhg O’Dalaigh, 70, of Woodview, Mount Merrion Avenue, Blackrock, Dublin.

O’Dalaigh was remanded on continuing bail by Judge Donagh McDonagh for sentence on October 31. He will be sentenced on the same day for indecently assaulting another student at the same school on five occasions.
