O’Flynn issues apology for theft of over €6k

Cork solicitor and financial adviser Gary O’Flynn has apologised for any pain he caused by stealing over €6,000 from a man who turned to him for help in dealing with serious debts.

The former Fianna Fáil councillor, aged 39, asked for leniency to be shown to him. His father, Noel O’Flynn, a former Fianna Fáil TD, was present yesterday to support him.

Gary O’Flynn has been in jail since a jury returned 13 guilty verdicts against him in his deception trial last month. He told Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin of his depression and anxiety and the fact that he had been on suicide watch in prison.
