Youghal model weds ‘Turkey’s Michael Jackson’
However, Youghal’s Lucy Loughnan is more than happy that her 22-year-old daughter Chloe has just married a man twice her age from Turkey.
Because model Chloe is not just married to any Turkish man, she is married to Serdar Ortac — essentially Turkey’s equivalent of Michael Jackson and a superstar in that country.
The couple met on the set of one of the star’s music videos in 2012 and were married in the upmarket coastal resort of Kuru Cesme just two weeks ago.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy, Lucy said she was initially concerned when their daughter started dating a man older than both her and her husband, but that these doubts were dispelled once they met Serdar.
Lucy had Chloe when she was just 16 and said the pair had always been best friends, sisters and mother and daughter rolled into one.
“At 14, I met my husband. He said ‘Lucy Loughnan, I love you. I’m going to marry you.’ And at 16, we got pregnant with Chloe. I did my exams in June, I had her in July and I went back to school in September,” she said.
Lucy said she didn’t realise just how famous her new son-in-law was until she touched down in Turkey when meeting him first.
“He had organised the tickets and everything and obviously it was all first-class. So I walked off the plane and there was a big, stretch limo waiting to collect me with my name.”
“I was obviously brought through the airport and didn’t have to go through passport control and was rushed out to a blacked-out limo and I had the feeling at that stage that perhaps we were not dealing with what I thought we were dealing with,” she said.
For Chloe’s part, she’s just enjoying life as a young newlywed, saying that her new life in Turkey is “perfect”.
“Life is brilliant, it’s amazing. I’m just sitting on my balcony in the sunshine and everything is perfect.
“We’re still newlyweds, so we’re soaking up that and I have to say, everything is perfect,” she said.
