Confidentiality law may be problem for probe

Laws protecting Cabinet confidentiality could prove a new problem for the Oireachtas Banking probe, it has emerged.

The first meeting of the committee set up to decide the terms of reference for the inquiry is seeking legal advice from a senior counsel on the issue.

Members fear they may not get full access to what happened in Cabinet during the financial collapse and the lead-up to the to the blanket bank guarantee of September 2008.
