Town’s planned €4.5m drainage works rescheduled

The planned €4.5m upgrading of an East Cork seaside town’s main drainage system has been renegotiated so the project won’t impact on the town’s peak tourist season.

A number of tourist-reliant businesses in Youghal feared they could go bust if the much-needed works began as originally planned in June.

However, Youghal Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Irish Water and Cork County Council have agreed changes to the schedule to lessen impact on the town’s commercial centre.
