Tara O’Halloran Cronin, from Fenit, Co Kerry, has been chosen as International Tutor of the Year at a beauty industry-organised event in Birmingham.

Ms O’Halloran Cronin, who works at the Kerry Education and Training Board Training Centre, Tralee, was selected for the quality of her work with her students and the achievements of former students who now work in spas and health centres.

Sixteen students take the course at the Tralee centre every year and they qualify as beauty therapists, body therapists, electrologists, and holistic massage therapists.

Tutors are assessed by the international awarding body for the health and beauty industry, the Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology.

“I’m absolutely delighted. Our centre has all the facilities and professional standards to take on the world and win,” said Ms O’Halloran Cronin.

As well as presenting a range of information about her work, she was also helped by a video recording of her work by her colleagues in the digital skills training centre at Kerry ETB.

Kerry ETB centre manager Owen O’Donnell said that the award was an outstanding recognition of Tara and the centre’s standards.
