It’s time to get the sunscreen out again as Met Eireann predict a heat wave running right into next week.

Our summer heatwave: sunny weather to continue as temperatures soar next week

Today, temperatures hit as high as 21 degrees in some parts and are expected to remain at around 18 or 19 degrees for Friday and Saturday.

The country is set to get even hotter on Sunday and Monday with highs of 21 degrees expected.

The best weather is largely to be expected in Munster and Leinster, though conditions in other parts of the country will also be warm and dry.

Some rainfall is expected in the north of Leinster on Friday evening, the rest of the weekend will mostly remain dry.

In terms of wind, some parts of the country will experience a slight breeze over the coming days, though nothing is expected to exceed 7 knots.

All in all, you can expect a hot weekend full of sunburn and squinting. If you're lucky to have a few days off, heading to the beach wouldn't be a bad choice.
