Devastated girlfriend’s vigil for injured footballer Oisin Merritt
Finn Harps footballer Oisin Merritt, 19, is in an induced coma after the accident in the early hours of Monday morning.
It is understood Oisin suffered a fractured skull and a bleed to the brain after allegedly falling from a balcony.
The popular young hotel worker had travelled to Spain with friends for a sun break and was due to arrive back in Ireland on Tuesday — the day after his accident.
His girlfriend Josephine O’Neill flew to Mallorca to join his parents Rose and Gary who flew out on Tuesday.
Both work at the Villa Rose Hotel where staff are in a state of shock over Oisin’s tragic accident.
The former St Columba’s College pupil is an extremely popular young man in the twin towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
His family said there has been a slight improvement in his condition.
Finn Harps spokesman Aidan Campbell said the entire club had been left shocked at the news of Oisin’s accident.
“We are all just hoping and praying that Oisin pulls through. He is just such a nice young man and he is very much in our thoughts at the moment,” he said.
