A homeless Cork man was so desperate to get arrested that he decided to commit a bizarre crime, going behind the counter of a busy pharmacy and rummaging through boxes for D10 sleeping tablets.

Jason Landy had come to the attention of gardaí a short time before he turned up at Blackrock Hall pharmacy off Skehard Rd.

Landy had no place to stay and asked gardaí to arrest him. His solicitor, Eddie Burke, said yesterday that Landy had told gardaí he would do something stupid just to get arrested.
