Fermoy and Cobh only safe havens for Labour

It’s being joked that Labour councillors are such an endangered species in Cork that the two remaining should be given sanctuary at Fota Wildlife Park.

Ironically, both of them were born in Cobh, although they won seats in different constituencies.

Cllr Noel McCarthy put in a remarkable performance to top the poll in the Fermoy electoral area with 3,511 first preferences.
