Murder suspect ran from gardaí, court hears
Nathan Killeen, aged 24, of Hyde Rd, Prospect, Limerick, and Wayne Dundon, aged 36, of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, have pleaded not guilty to the murder of 35-year-old Mr Collins at Coin Castle Amusements, Roxboro Rd Shopping Centre, on April 9, 2009.
Detective Garda David Baynham yesterday told Michael O’Higgins, prosecuting, that, at about 12.20pm on the day in question, he was travelling from Hyde Avenue towards Hyde Rd with colleagues when he saw two males walking.
Det Garda Baynham said that as they approached, he immediately recognised one male as Mr Killeen.
Asked if the fact he saw Mr Killeen was striking in any way, Det Garda Baynham said it was important at that particular time.
He said he wanted to speak to the youths as he suspected they were involved in the shooting, but they ran from the car.
The trial continues.
