Gang were on hunt for racehorse sale cash

Money from the sale of a successful racehorse was the intended target when a gang mistakenly stormed a family home in Co Limerick last month.

A couple and their three children were terrorised by the armed and masked intruders, who demanded money as they threatened the family and then locked them into a bathroom.

Gardaí are satisfied the four man-gang mistook ESB worker Danny O’Connell, his wife, Miriam, and their children, aged nine, six, and four, for a different family.
