Noonan: No new funding for third-tier medical card

A third-tier medical card mooted by Health Minister James Reilly must be paid for out of his department’s current budget, according to Finance Minister Michael Noonan.

He made it clear that there would be no new funding for any solution for people who have lost their cards despite having urgent needs.

And Mr Noonan threw the issue of no new social welfare budget cuts demanded by Minister Joan Burton back into the Labour camp saying she must argue her case with Brendan Howlin.
