An Irish youth theatre group plans to stage for the first time here a bold adaptation of a critically-acclaimed play based on the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The Cork School of Music’s Youth Theatre group said it chose French dramatist Michel Vinaver’s 11 Septembre 2001 libretto in the hope that it will challenge audiences.

The group’s director, Peader Donohoe, who is also directing the play, said he hopes it will also encourage the young actors and their friends to become politically aware and more politically active — to question things and point out wrongdoing.
