Irish Water warned to update system before installing meters

Irish Water has been warned not to put in water meters in a Co Cork village until it has updated the supply system there.

The chairman of the county council’s northern division, Cllr Frank O’Flynn (FF), said last year a promise was made that money was available to upgrade the archaic water supply system in Kildorrery, but it still wasn’t forthcoming.

In the last couple of years, the village has suffered from numerous water outages, which have especially outraged business owners who are already charged for water.
