Armed burglars tried to strangle man during attack in his home

Armed men broke into a house near Patrickswell, beat up the man who lived there, then tried to strangle him with an electric cable, and hit him over the head with a handgun.

The injured man had to receive treatment for a head wound.

Details of the attack in Co Limerick emerged last night as gardaí sought help in finding the culprits.
