RTE rejects claims that 60 staff sent to London to cover President’s UK visit
Labour Party MEP for Dublin, Emer Costello, had queried why the national broadcaster was in a position to send a large number of staff to Britain for the historic state visit and yet could not reopen its London bureau, which closed 18 months ago.
MEP Costello said this seemed “hypocritical”, adding that the number of staff sent to cover this week’s event appeared “excessive”: “RTÉ have given us blanket coverage of the visit on television, radio, and online.
