Visually impaired woman in charity run

A visually impaired woman is set to tackle her first mini-marathon later this year to raise funds for the Irish Guide Dogs charity which has supported her for more than 20 years.

Geraldine Looney, 37, who is originally from Limerick but who lives in Cork, is currently in training with her guide dog, Irv, for the Cork Women’s Mini-Marathon in September.

She will take part with help from her sighted guide, Kieran Reilly, who will run alongside her, with a band tied between them to help her gauge her stride and pace.
