TDs and senators are to send recommendations to Education Minister Ruairi Quinn from campaigning teenagers who want a junior cycle course to raise awareness on human trafficking.

The transition year students of Scoil Phobail Bhéara in Castletownbere, Co Cork, yesterday made a strong impression on the Oireachtas Justice Committee with a presentation on their project on the issue.

As well as bringing it to the Young Social Innovators programme, the girls told the committee they have organised photo exhibitions, interviewed victims, written a book for younger children, set up a Facebook page and engaged with other campaign groups.
