The HSE has been given 24 hours to explain why it took a medical card from a man with serious psychological issues and charged with the arson of his mother’s home.

Letterkenny Circuit Court in Co Donegal was told that Joe McGranaghan has serious psychological issues, but, despite this, he has been without his medication since January.

Judge Keenan Johnson said he wants to know by today the reasons for the decision.
